Description

18 years after its creation, the 1st Afro-Caribbean Jazz world festival is founding the Big'In Jazz Collective! An innovative and exceptional ensemble of 8 musician-creators from Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Haiti. The collective's main mission? To promote Caribbean culture internationally. To achieve this, the collective will also be tasked with showcasing a portion of the vast musical repertoire of prominent composers from Martinique and Guadeloupe. Through this project, the Biguine Jazz Festival solidifies and enhances its efforts to promote and transmit Antillean musical heritage, a mission it began several years ago during previous editions. Conceived and developed with a long-term strategy, the BJC aims to become the primary showcase for the Biguine Jazz Festival, Caribbean Jazz, and Afro-Caribbean music worldwide. Based on democratic composition workshops, the BJ Collective will meet once or twice a year for creative and experimental residencies, with the goal of arranging works by the selected artist or "tribute" project.
