Janis Joplin and Big Brother were one of the leading psychedelic bands of the late 60s. This magnificent collector's double CD features unreleased live and studio recordings from the Matrix in San Francisco in 1967 of Janis Joplin at the height of her fame, performing 6 of her best songs, just weeks before her famous performance at the Monterey Pop Festival. CD1 features 12 remastered recordings by the band members. CD2 features one of Janis Joplin's most beautiful live performances in San Francisco in 1967, with bonus videos of 'Coo Coo' and 'Ball & Chain'. Janis Joplin joined Big Brother and The Holding Company in 1966, and the band quickly rose to fame by participating in the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, sharing the bill with the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, and Jimi Hendrix Experience.
