The Midnight Special: Live In Nottingham - 1957 - Vinyle Violet

Description

Born in Mississippi, "Big Bill Broonzy" - a nickname referring to his imposing stature (6'6") - remains a name unknown to the general public, despite several hundred songs recorded, many of them his own compositions. From the late 1920s to the late 1950s, this immensely prolific blues musician won the hearts of his peers and fans of "race music." A mentor to Muddy Waters and a major figure for artists such as Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and Rod Stewart, Broonzy's influence on music is undeniable. This solo concert captures Big Bill's engaging personality and his talent for captivating an audience with his stories, acoustic guitar solos, and a powerful voice that conveys experiences lived in fields, factories, and on the railways. The record was mastered from the original analog tape by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering (Furnace Record Pressing). Liner notes by Larry Jaffee.
