After seventeen years of distilling increasingly danceable garage punk with Gossip, Beth Ditto is going solo with the album Fake Sugar, which will be released on June 16. Loving, losing, regretting and finally moving on: Fake Sugar tackles these themes with all the emotion, power, beauty and sensuality one would expect from such an iconoclastic artist. Beth Ditto, who will play sold-out shows in Berlin, Paris and London in April, chose Jennifer Decilveo as her main collaborator; the producer managed to find the perfect balance between Ditto’s punk edge and a more openly pop approach. In Beth Ditto’s own words: “Jennifer was to me what roller is to roller skates! We argued all day long and I loved it.”
