The new album by pianist Bertrand Chamayou, titled "Cage 2", is in a way the twin brother of "Lettre(s) à Erik Satie" released in November 2023, both recorded at Studio Miraval.In this album, aided by dancer and choreographer Élodie Sicard, Chamayou reinterprets the pieces that John Cage wrote for dance solos, notably for the American dancer Syvilla Fort, as well as for dancers and choreographers such as Valérie Bettis, Wilson Williams, Pearl Primus, Jean Erdman, and of course, the formidable Merce Cunningham.The tracklist of CAGE 2 follows the order of the pieces as in the performances of CAGE 2.John Cage wrote all the pieces on this album for dance solos: for the American dancer Syvilla Fort, for dancers and choreographers like Valérie Bettis, Wilson Williams, Pearl Primus, Jean Erdman, but also for the formidable Merce Cunningham.It is a fascinating project by Bertrand, who also provided brilliant liner notes on Cage, on the genesis of the prepared piano and the pieces...Buy Cage 2 at the best price
