Pianist Bertrand Chamayou's new album, "Cage²," is something of a twin to "Lettre(s) à Erik Satie," released in November 2023, both recorded at Miraval Studio. On this album, with the help of dancer and choreographer Élodie Sicard, Chamayou reinterprets pieces John Cage wrote for dance solos, notably for American dancer Syvilla Fort, as well as for dancers and choreographers such as Valerie Bettis, Wilson Williams, Pearl Primus, Jean Erdman, and of course, the formidable Merce Cunningham.
