Symphonie Numéro 7

Description

Tributes to Bernard Haitink are multiplying, and it is only fitting, as the great Dutch conductor left a luminous mark on the 20th century with his art. His last concerts in 2019 featured Bruckner's 7th Symphony, a composer he served so beautifully and magnificently. On the morning of June 15, it was with the Netherlands Radio Orchestra that he performed the most played of the symphonies by the master of Saint Florian. Certainly, the orchestra does not match, particularly in its sound richness, the great philharmonics that Haitink conducted so often (Amsterdam, Berlin, or Vienna, to name a few), but it plays with a palpable devotion under the baton of the old maestro. Without excessive pathos, including in the famous adagio approached with modesty and emotion but without slowness and with fervent intensity, he delivers a reading of impressive balance and grandeur. Thank you to Challenge for publishing this tribute; could one dream of a better homage to the departed musician?
