Description

Beograd (Belgrade in Serbian) is a Serbian electronic group composed of four musicians, formed in the capital of the former Yugoslavia in 1980. Influenced by bands such as Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Ultravox, and Human League, they played a pioneering role in the Yugoslav synth-pop scene. Their first studio album, Remek Depo, was released in late 1982 on cassette and in early 1983 on vinyl by the public label PGP RTB. It achieved significant media success, released during the peak of the alternative scene in Belgrade, a dynamic underground movement of avant-garde artists and musicians that included leading groups such as Sarlo Akrobata, Ekatarina Velika, Idoli, Elektricni Orgazam, and others. Unfortunately, the group disbanded shortly after the album's release. The album features politically provocative lyrics for the time. Produced by Saša Habic, it stands out for the quality of its guest musicians - timbalist Borislav "Bora Longa" Pavicevic, avant-garde saxophonist Paul Pignon, and veteran jazz trumpeter Stjepko Gut - who contributed to its soulful aspect, creating a unique combination of warmth and coolness.
