Bénabar waited almost 4 years before releasing a new album. We're not going to pity him! We too, we waited. We the audience! What does he think!? That we were just lounging around charmingly during that time? That we were twiddling our thumbs? Well, no! We laughed, we cried, we experienced funny things, less funny things, sad things, less sad things, things here, things there: life, you know. And among all these things lived or seen or felt, once we thought back on it with a bit of perspective, let's admit it, it happened that we said to ourselves: "hey, that would make a good subject for a Bénabar song." And see the coincidence, see the irony, Bénabar too, it crossed his mind, and he said to himself: "hey, that would make a good song subject for me. and for them." Because that's how he is! He's a selfish one for others. He feasts on us and he loves it. And he asks for more, and the more he asks for, well, the more we too, we demand. So here it is. Since he doesn't have his hands in his pockets, nor his eyes, nor his ears, he looked once again at how the world dances, how it sounds, and he gives us back with this new album a bit of ourselves in his own way. He bequeaths to us in musical sketches, by a boomerang effect, our little slices of life. We will recognize ourselves or we will recognize another: a friend, a loved one, a customer, a neighbor, a work colleague. We will hear ourselves think: "hey, that happened to me or to him or to others." Because you see, that's how Bénabar is: he speaks to everyone, and it's because he speaks to everyone that he writes like no one else.
