Saxophonist and producer Ben Vince announces the release of his sixth album, Street Druid, his first in nearly six years, via the label AD 93. The album blends acoustic, manipulated, and electronic sounds. It features saxophone, synthesizer, voice, guitars, and drum machine, with drums by Moses Boyd. The cover art is by Byzantia Harlow. At once tender, psychedelic, and intense, the album breaks free from genres and categories. Ben Vince is a composer and performer recognized for his improvised saxophone explorations and inventive techniques that allow him to create new rhythms, textures, and atmospheres. Through live improvisation, sound manipulation, reprocessing, and looping, his spontaneous and intuitive approach, as well as his collaborative spirit, transcend the apparent limits of his chosen instrument. His energetic and immersive solo performances embody an artist at the peak of his craft. He is now a leading figure in the new generation of experimental artists, having notably collaborated with the improvisation collective EP/64, Charles Hayward, Coby Sey, Valentina Magaletti, and the experimental post-punk band Housewives. Vince has also undertaken remarkable studio collaborations with electronic music producer Joy Orbison, experimental pop artist and composer Mica Levi, and many other artists from all musical horizons, such as El-B, Astrid Sonne, and Sugai Ken.
