Channeling his experience in classical music, Ben Shemie of SUUNS combines string fractals, manipulated voices, and a chaos of synthesizers to connect the realms of the past, present, and future. Over the course of ten tracks, Shemie chronicles the journey of a wandering soul entangled in its own dark orbit, searching for meaning in a world of stardust and astral mirages. The Molinari String Quartet, one of Canada's most celebrated contemporary ensembles, brings Shemie's orchestral maneuvers to life. By recording the ten tracks of the album in two unique takes, the urgency and dynamism of these compositions are both heard and felt. The listener can sense Shemie's stuttering pulse, flanked by five amplifiers and wading through an electronic tumult, as the Molinari Quartet inverts the measures of strings and chimes. Sometimes, the only way to make sense of the world is to travel to its absolute end. While Shemie's vision of a distant universe is both inspiring and chaotic, he assures the listener - everything and everyone is exactly as it should be.
