Channeling his classical music background, SUUNS’ Ben Shemie combines string fractals, manipulated vocals, and synthetic chaos to bridge the realms of past, present, and future. Across ten tracks, Shemie chronicles a wandering soul entangled in its own dark orbit, searching for meaning in a world of stardust and astral mirages. The Molinari String Quartet, one of Canada’s most celebrated contemporary ensembles, brought Shemie’s orchestral maneuvers to life. Recording all ten tracks of the album in two single takes, the urgency and dynamism of these compositions are heard as much as they are felt. The listener can feel Shemie's stuttering pulse, flanked by five amplifiers and wading through electronic mayhem, as the Molinari Quartet inverts the measures of strings and chimes. Sometimes, the only way to make sense of the world is to journey to its absolute end. While Shemie’s image of a distant universe is both inspiring and chaotic, he guarantees the listener – everything and everyone is exactly as it should be.
