The first was released on December 8, the second on January 19, and the third on February 16. Just like the three EPs from 1997, which are now at the heart of the band's discography, these three new releases should not be interpreted as mere supporting acts of their work but rather as standalone releases. The project 'How To Solve Our Human Problems' represents both an era in its own right and an integral part of their rich and long history. When the members of Belle and Sebastian felt new inspirations stirring within the band, they decided to break away from their past methods. They stayed at home to record the tracks as they went along, often producing them themselves, seeking the opinions of their friends and collaborators on the outcomes. Working in Glasgow also freed them from the constraints that can come with creating an album: they were able to take their time, experiment, and perfect.
