Originally released in 1980, In Need Of... quickly became a cult classic of the French disco scene. After leaving New York for Paris in the late 1970s, Bell created a unique space for her music, blending the soul of New York disco with the energetic sophistication of the European market. This first full-length album features some of Bell’s earliest recordings, including the full version of Super Queen (1979) and In The Right Place (1980), showcasing her masterful voice and unique musical style. The standout track Music Madness has since become a much-loved disco anthem, revered by collectors and DJs. In Need Of... is the result of an outstanding creative team: Bell’s soulful vocals join forces with the brilliance of the compositions by Arthur Young and Frank Abel of the Lafayette Afro-Rock Band, elevated by the legendary synthesizer work of Patrick Cowley, Jacob Desvarieux of Kassav' on guitar and keyboards, and Chantal Curtis on backing vocals, all driven by the expert production of Pierre Jaubert.
