Formed in Southend in the late 1990s, Beatglider's journey is a familiar story: a critically acclaimed start, before momentum and promise were shattered by the inertia and indifference of a major label. After the release of their debut album, 40 Days Of Summer, in 1999, the band signed with Lakota, a subsidiary of Sony, and moved to Los Angeles to record its follow-up, Dreaming Of Roads — an album that ultimately never saw the light of day at the time. Today, more than twenty years later, Dreaming Of Roads finally receives a deserved release via the Arlen label. This delicate and restrained album, consisting of 11 tracks, sits musically somewhere between Elliott Smith, Grandaddy, Yo La Tengo, and Sparklehorse. Not only has the album remarkably withstood the test of time, but it sounds fresher than ever in 2026. The album was recorded in Los Angeles at the legendary Sound City studios.
