Death Metal. Formed in 2002, Bastard Priest predated the entire retro Swedish death metal wave that has been ongoing these past years. Authentically Swedish and hailing from Umeå, the duo quickly became a staple of post-Y2K Swedeath with their first demo, Merciless Insane Death, released in 2008 on the Blood Harvest, Zombie Ritual Tapes label. But it was with the release of their debut album in 2010, Under the Hammer of Destruction, that they proved who the true contenders for the throne were. Widely acclaimed, Under the Hammer of Destruction was followed a year later by Ghouls of the Endless Night, which was once again acclaimed by fans and critics and cemented Bastard Priest’s name in the international underground.
