Originally the swan song album preceding Basement’s first hiatus, Colourmeinkindness (2012) was a landmark release for the English band, establishing them as one of the best songwriters in the emerging rock scene of the 2010s. After their first album I Wish I Could Stay Here, released in 2011, Colourmeinkindness is a mature album from the very first discordant notes of the song “Whole,” which opens the album and, for the past decade or so, has been shaking concert halls around the world as the opening song of Basement’s shows. The album has long been a favorite because it offers a number of different sounds - melodic songs like “Covet” and “Bad Apple,” emo-inspired tracks like “Breathe” and “Comfort,” and huge riffs on “Spoiled” and the final song “Wish.”
