A concentrate of great ideas with a progressive, jazz fusion or heavy/rock flavor, the new album by the trio BARON CRÂNE, Les Beaux Jours, is surprising for its bold combinations. Audacity, intelligence and technical mastery are the ingredients of a delicious recipe that hits the mark from the very first note. We find the characteristic build-ups of the band, as well as carefully selected guests who enhance the songwriting. The first single, Larry's Journey, delivers a contagious groove, at the crossroads of dub, jazz and prog rock. The influence of Faith No More or Primus is never far away... Les Beaux Jours gives pride of place to jazz with the presence of genre heavyweights such as Guillaume Perret on saxophone on Mercury and Robby Marshall on flute on Merinos. The heavy rock seal of approval is provided by Simon Lemonnier, drummer of the stoner band Patrón, who doubles Léo Goizet on drums on the track Danjouer, as well as by singer Cyril Bodin, who elevates Quarantine with his intense, deep voice. Since 2014, the heavy progressive instrumental trio BARON CRÂNE has been taking heavy, psychedelic riffs into jazz fusion or noise territory without any complexes. The Paris-based band, with its inexhaustible inspiration, dares everything, pushes its instruments to their limits and restores experimental music to its rightful place. Their stylistic combinations are as surprising as they are masterful. Baron Crâne released a first self-titled album in 2015 and quickly made a name for themselves on the underground scene. Carried by this momentum, the band returned to the studio the following year to record the album Electric Shades. The influences are broad and intertwined with disconcerting ease. Fusion, jazz, post-rock and heavy psychedelic coexist in a communicative joy. 2017 marked a turning point for Baron Crâne, with the introduction of a new lineup: a new drummer, then a new bassist joined the band. The live experience was reworked, enriched, strengthened. Dates followed one another across the roads of Europe, with a few shared bills with Ufomammut, Dub Trio or even We Insist. Mrs Red Sound reissued their third opus Commotions in April 2020. The album is driven by powerful riffs, a fresh and infectious groove, as well as fine sonic experiments. Singer Arthur Brossard, who appears on the track Acid Rains, brings a most striking desert rock feel, while the propels the track On Rase Les murs into a stunning urban universe thanks to a cold, mechanical sound, on the border of math rock.
