FRANCISCO “FININHO” SOUSA PRESENTS: BANDÉ-GAMBOA. Revamping Rare Gems from Cabo Verde and Guiné-Bissau. Produced by GUTS. One of the most ambitious world projects of the year dedicated to the little-known but danceable music of Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau. Bandé-Gamboa is a project by two All-Star bands created to reinterpret extremely rare or unreleased tracks from Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde, a project explicitly dedicated to the living memory of Amílcar Cabral, the intellectual and strategic force behind the independence of both countries, whose dream was to see them united forever. Produced by GUTS, the project was created by executive producer / DJ / Digger, Francisco “Fininho” Sousa, with the aim of shining a light on musical compositions that never found success despite their potential, or that were never released. The band includes only exceptional musicians from Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde, blending young and older generations. The Cape Verde tracks focus mainly on expanding the possibilities of musical languages within “Funaná,” and the Guinea-Bissau tracks are a modern interpretation of the traditional “Gumbé” rhythm, rarely played on world stages.
