"Sim Sim Sim" is the debut album by Bala Desejo, winner of a Latin Grammy. A group at the forefront of Rio de Janeiro's artistic renaissance, they channel influences from 1960s Brazilian Tropicalia, 1970s psychedelia, and MPB to create a sound that is nostalgic yet joyfully avant-garde. "Sim Sim Sim", which translates to "Yes Yes Yes" in English, weaves through a fusion of genres, taking twists and turns as it progresses. There is Tropicalia, MPB, rock, samba-canção, soul-funk, and reggae in the mix. It possesses many qualities of a classic album from the golden age of 1960s and 1970s Brazilian music, but also manages to sound very now. As solo musicians, they have worked and collaborated with iconic Brazilian musicians like Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, and Milton Nascimento, to name just a few. Bala Desejo feels like a natural extension of what came before, taking the baton from these luminaries, adding their unique touch, and moving the sound forward.
