Inspired by the musical grammar of his role models, Big Bill Bronzy and John Lee Hooker, each track takes on the appearance of a short film.” France Musique // My musical and artistic journey now leads me to this essential stage of my career where the "Salone" project (meaning Sierra Leone in the Krio language) finally allows me to immerse myself in my African roots, and more specifically those of Sierra Leone, my country of origin. Never before had I had the strength to undertake this work. Although I was born in Sierra Leone, I have never played or made music in Africa. My first steps into the world of music took place at school in England, where I spent my entire schooling. As a professional musician, it was Belgium that saw me born. I was destined to live my childhood, adolescence, and adult life between two continents, Africa and Europe, but African sounds and rhythms have always lived within me. Artistically, the creation of this album (where I played all the instruments and sang all the vocals) was a spiritual, joyful, refreshing, and rewarding introspection. I put my whole soul and heart into it. Naturally, the blues presented itself as an obvious choice to allow me to express my feelings and musical inspirations for this journey to the roots of my African heritage." Bai Kamara Jr.
