The Anglo-American duo Baba Ali returns with their second album Laugh Like A Bomb, set to be released via Memphis Industries. Along with the announcement, the couple shared the first single "Burn Me Out," a documentation of their creative philosophy and the societal urge to indulge in excess until exhaustion. Having previously collaborated with Al Doyle (LCD Soundsystem/Hot Chip) on their first album, this time, the duo escaped to Doyle's studio during his own tour and took on the production themselves. Laugh Like A Bomb was recorded in just three weeks before being mixed by Sheffield producer Ross Orton (Working Men's Club / Arctic Monkeys / MIA). "I think a big part of the writing process for this album came from pushing ourselves to our limits to arrive at the essential idea and rejecting anything that felt superfluous or unnecessary," explains Baba. "There was a lot of writing, rewriting, deleting, re-recording, and then repeating that process. Often, the best idea would come from that final push when you’re too exhausted to even think and you rely on your feelings." Back after the release of their first album "Memory Device" in 2020 and 18 months of touring across Europe and the United States with Yard Act and Chk Chk Chk, Baba Ali has created a fiery follow-up with one foot firmly planted in dancefloor and the other in a state of constant frenzy. Laugh Like A Bomb features anxious synths and grinding guitars colliding with concrete drum hits, pulsing bass, and Baba's raspy voice in a 40-minute collection that explores feelings of unease, abandonment, and desire, as well as delving into the more sinister.
