A few months ago, Israeli double bassist Avishai Cohen released his symphonic album "Two Roses" – which he himself described as "the project of a lifetime." Following this successful album, reviewed in over a hundred magazines worldwide, Avishai Cohen returns to the jazz trio format with a dazzling new lineup: Elchin Shirinov, still on piano, and, on drums, the arrival of the young Roni Kaspi, an exceptional musician who joined the touring band in summer 2021. This new album, "Shifting Sands," recorded in August 2021 and set to be released in May 2022 on the Naïve label, rekindles the unique alchemy that defines Avishai Cohen's music: sweeping melodic lines, diverse and sophisticated rhythms, and a distinctive musical elegance that is uniquely his own.
