Strictly Leakage was originally released as a free download in 2007, as a Christmas gift for Atmosphere fans. The title is a nod to both leaks of their own music and the golden age hip-hop that inspired them. The album sounds different from other Atmosphere recordings from the same period. Ant goes back to digging through funk and soul records, producing sample-based tracks that sound as if they were born alongside the early hip-hop classics. Slug raps with renewed passion but seems more relaxed and carefree, offering endless wordplay with more technical rhyme schemes than on their recent albums. Together, they create 13 exclusive songs that feel like they are having fun flexing their creative muscles without the pressure of an official album—an exercise that is undoubtedly as rewarding for them as it is for the listeners. Shortly after its release, Strictly Leakage was briefly pressed on a limited series of vinyl and CDs, but it didn't take long for them to sell out. Finally, the project returns on vinyl and CD so that fans around the world can own and appreciate this unique chapter in Atmosphere's history.
