Formed in 1990 in Gothenburg, At The Gates became one of the most influential bands in Scandinavian death metal. After the success of their early albums, the band split up in 1996 before reforming in 2007, consolidating their cult status through new tours and several landmark albums. Released in 1993, With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness is often considered one of the highlights of their career. The album stands out for its complex melodic arrangements, its dark and brutal atmosphere, as well as touches of black metal and lyrics that are both poetic and philosophical. Recorded at the legendary Sunlight Studios under the production of Tomas Skogsberg, the record also features an appearance by Matti Kärki, vocalist of the Swedish band Dismember.
