Astral Bakers is the story of an obvious connection. Four seasoned musicians find themselves in the same room, making music as if for the first time. Some would call it acoustic rock, while others would specify soft grunge. The songs in English are a blend of Big Thief, Supertramp, and an unplugged Nirvana concert. Initially, Sage, Theodora, Nico Lockhart, and Zoé Hochberg know each other from collaborating on other tours and albums. They have all worked with a diverse range of artists such as Clara Luciani, November Ultra, Woodkid, Pomme, and Revolver. Together, they seek something different: epiphanies and presence, friendship and simplicity. No more demos or re-recordings: only the circular listening between two guitars (Sage and Nicolas) that converse with each other, a bass (Theodora) that holds time, and a muffled drum (Zoé) that envelops the whole. Selected by Spotify for their RADAR program and already praised by critics (Libération, France Inter, Les Inrocks), this debut album of 10 tracks composed in live conditions is already making its mark in the indie landscape of 2024.
