The singer Asmik Grigorian has chosen to record both versions of Richard Strauss's ultimate masterpiece, composed in 1948: the orchestral version and the much rarer piano version. Why? "Because 'one' is never enough for me :)", writes Asmik. "I found it interesting to record both versions because they each require different colors, even though the work is the same. Mikko Franck is one of the best conductors today; everything is simple with him, like all truly special things in this world. Markus Hinterhäuser is just a magician in everything he does. Making music with them allows me to feel that I am not alone." The Lithuanian soprano, who electrifies every opera stage and was named "Singer of the Year" at the Opus Klassik Awards in 2023, is here releasing her third recording for Alpha Classics. For her, this music is associated with the idea of solitude, that of childhood, that of the artist... but not an unhappy solitude, rather a journey towards infinity.
