While she triumphs on stage, Asmik Grigorian presents her first recording with piano, a highly anticipated album and the first of many projects planned with Alpha Classics. Dedicated to one of her favorite composers, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and titled Dissonance, this program brings together vocal works carefully selected by the soprano, intimate yet highly emotional romances: "Most of Rachmaninoff's romances really require operatic power. In fact, he wrote mini-operas of just a few minutes." If this album is called Dissonance, in reference to the romance from opus 34 and the "internal conflicts" that punctuate these melodies, the powerful duo formed by the Lithuanian singer and her compatriot pianist Lukas Geniušas is in total consonance.
