Asian Dub Foundation's music is a genre in itself. Their unique fusion of jungle rhythms, dub basslines, wild guitars drawing from their South Asian roots, and militant rap has established them as one of the best live bands in the world. It was a busy 2019 for Asian Dub Foundation, with the long-awaited reissue of their classic "Rafi's Revenge", nominated for the Mercury Prize in 1998. The reissue drew rave reviews that all agreed the sound and message launched by ADF in 1998 are as relevant today as they were back then – perhaps even more so. It is therefore timely that in 2020, the band is set to release their 9th studio album entitled Access Denied, more militant than ever. This new album showcases the full spectrum of Asian Dub Foundation, from the hard jungle/punk sound of "Stealing The Future" and "Mindlock" to the orchestral meditation of "Realignment" and the reggae lament of the eponymous song. With guests such as the Palestinians of 47 Soul, the rap whirlwind of the Chilean revolt Ana Tijoux, and the British radical comedian Stewart Lee, as well as a cover of a speech by Greta Thunberg, Asian Dub Foundation continues to oppose the powers that be through their music, and this new album Access Denied hits harder and higher than ever.
