With ‘Touch of Time’, Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen and Dutch pianist Harmen Fraanje make palpable the extraordinary musical connivance that lies at the heart of their duo, which is both experimental and wonderfully lyrical.
Here, delicate melodies with precious textures seem to emerge spontaneously and naturally from the interaction between these two committed musicians, each engaged in the process of developing a musical idea as far as possible, paying attention to the slightest details in terms of collective dynamics and nuances of colour. Whether dialoguing in freely improvised forms or, conversely, working within carefully elaborated frameworks, Henriksen and Fraanje blend their voices with grace, each seeming to continually pick up and complete the other's phrases.
