Initially scheduled for release on October 11th On the eve of a prison sentence and various incarcerations caused by his heroin addiction, the first part of alto saxophonist Art Pepper's career concluded with a series of recordings. Captured with his quintet in 1960, Intensity shows the influence of John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman, and includes the standards "I Can't Believe That You're In Love With Me", "Gone With The Wind", as well as a lively reinterpretation of Cole Porter's ballad, "I Love You". This reissue is part of the "Contemporary Records Acoustic Sounds" audiophile collection and features new analog mastering from the master tapes by Bernie Grundman, as well as the original artwork and liner notes in meticulous packaging.
