Ensemble - Live! is a one-of-a-kind album, recorded live in the studio. A group of five musicians performs three tracks from the album Zebra by American Alexis Georgopoulos, also known as Arp, along with four new compositions. Encouraged by Mexican Summer to form a new live band for the label's 10th anniversary celebrated at the New York art space Pioneer Works in November 2018, Georgopoulos assembled a quintet that includes three of the musicians from Zebra. Delighted by the result heard on stage, the label then asked Georgopoulos if he would be interested in recording a studio album live. While Zebra was primarily created in Georgopoulos's home studio and showcased his growth as a producer and arranger, Ensemble - Live! focuses on another aspect: a sound born from group dynamics, a mood, and inspiration found in the moment. Interaction and communication are at the heart of this album, where the whole is infinitely more than the sum of its parts. It is a snapshot of a group in motion, of collective power.
