Born and raised under the sun of Provence, Arno E. Mathieu spent most of his time riding the hills on his grandfather's old motorcycle, listening to the most psychedelic songs of the Doors, and enjoying traditional Mediterranean dishes made with his grandmother's eggplants and tomatoes. Surrounded by his parents' jazz records, young Arno watched classic science fiction films like Blade Runner or Star Wars, as well as the Italian spaghetti western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, drawing a lot of inspiration from the soundtracks of Vangelis or Morricone and developing a particular taste for epic music and stories, as well as for romantic characters. Around the age of 17, Arno became truly interested in electronic music thanks to his older brother's mixtapes, which introduced him to Laurent Garnier, the house music of Saint-Germain, then the album Nuyorican Soul and the club tracks of Masters At Work. He bought two turntables and vinyl records, and quickly organized his first parties and club events with his brother. Mathieu released his track "Call It Jungle Jazz" under the name Matt'Samo for a Yellow Production project titled Africanism. Mathieu created his own label, Clima Records, to release the music he wanted to produce. This was also an opportunity to host remixers and collaborations on the label such as Kuniyuki, Vakula, Franck Roger, Tokyo Black Star, Jephté Guillaume, Massalo, Raoul K, Julien Jabre, and more. Since his first release on Clima, Arno's music has gained support from many leaders in the underground scene such as François K, Dj Harvey, Jeff Mills, Dixon, and Laurent Garnier, and has received particular attention from Joe Claussell. Claussell appreciates Arno E. Mathieu's music so much that he began distributing Clima Records' vinyl through his structure Atypical Dopeness in record stores around the world, thus bringing new visibility to Arno's music. After many years of shuttling between Paris and his beloved Provence, Arno finally returned to settle in the south and took a final step towards a true Mediterranean lifestyle, making fig jam, growing tomatoes, zucchinis, and eggplants, and finding the right balance for his creative process. With this return, Arno E. Mathieu embarked on a new project titled CONTEMPLATION, entirely dedicated to his lifestyle and the landscapes and environment that make it possible. A tribute to the "sublime" nature and the moments it creates.
