Inbach

Description

Author of 4 EPs and 5 albums released on the French label InFiné and an EP in 2018 on the Sheffield Computer Club label (sublabel of Central Processing Unit), Arandel returns with his most ambitious project to date, InBach, whose name echoes the album Switched On Bach by the American transgender composer Wendy Carlos, which is based on a hybrid performance — between live and DJ set — mixing remixes, reinterpretations, recompositions, and rearrangements of more or less well-known pieces from Bach's immense repertoire. InBach was born from an initial proposal by the Musée de la Musique (Philharmonie de Paris). First following an invitation to Nuit Blanche and then another for the "Bach Marathon," the idea for the album naturally emerged. It was largely recorded with the museum's extraordinary collection of instruments: viola da gamba, square piano Erard, clavichord, ondioline, Zach cello... Arandel wanders through an Aladdin's cave, surrounded by treasures from all eras, and invites artists from worlds and backgrounds as varied as they are contrasting, all sharing sensitivity and faith in the project: Vanessa Wagner, Thomas Bloch, Barbara Carlotti, Gaspar Claus, Sébastien Martel, Areski, Sébastien Roué, Flore, Wilhem Latchoumia, Ben Shemie, Petra Haden, and Emmanuelle Parrenin. This first collaboration between Infiné and the Philharmonie de Paris is the beginning of a long series that will be based on the same concept: using the museum's instruments to bring them back to life.
