Two years after their last album, Swanlights, Antony & The Johnsons are back with a fifth album titled "Cut The World." This album was recorded last year in Copenhagen during an exceptional performance by the band accompanied by the Danish National Orchestra. "Cut The World" could be considered the band's first best-of, as it features sumptuous symphonic versions of their greatest hits, including "You Are My Sister," "Epilepsy Is Dancing," and "Another World." The selected tracks were arranged by Nico Muhly, Rob Moose, Maxim Moston, and Antony. "Cut The World," which gave its name to the album, is the only track recorded in the studio and the only new track featuring Antony Hegarty's angelic voice. A unique voice that has long been compared to Nina Simone, Boy George, or Otis Redding. But it is Antony who once again leads the way, and to paraphrase Liberation, he transforms this performance into a mass communion with him, possessed, the listener as if mesmerized, speechless, in this new meditation on light, nature, and feminism.
