FESTA (= celebration - in Basque), the new album by Basque singer Anne Etchegoyen, in which she celebrates the festivities by performing popular songs known to all lovers of celebration and sung in unison during the festivities of our towns and villages, family gatherings, and our dear Sème mi-temps. According to the singer, the deprivation of celebration during the two 'covid' years highlighted the social and intergenerational aspect of festivities. When we talk about celebration, we talk about sharing, and in this sense, Anne has invited some essential artist friends from Basque music, such as Pier Paul Berzaitz, Niko Etxart, Gérard Luc, Jean-Pierre Dumoulin from the Gaiteros du Roi Léon, etc. There is also a Basque-Catalan duo with the Catalan singer Call, which fits into her initiative for greater visibility of music in regional languages. Additionally, there is a composition, the setting for a luminous duo with the gipsy-latino group, Alma Loca. Musically, as on stage, the tracks are supported by folk, classical, and flamenco guitar bases, enhanced by modern and elegant arrangements, serving a lively Hispano-folk universe propelled by Anne Etchegoyen's voice, which is both soft and powerful. This album marks a mature phase for the Basque singer, superb, elegant, warm, and unifying, which will make us want to put on our scarves and head to the village squares to reunite with friends and family for a moment of 'joy.'
