Harmonics of the Night is the third album in a trilogy by guitarist Andy Summers, following Metal Dog and Triboluminescence. The work originated from a guitar improvisation created to accompany an exhibition of his photographs in Montpellier. Unsatisfied with the music chosen by the museum, Summers composed an instrumental piece, A Certain Strangeness, which inspired eleven other tracks.
