The irresistible new album by And Also The Trees, "Mother-of-Pearl Moon," was born from a series of extraordinary electric guitar improvisations by guitarist Justin Jones, before and after dawn, during a month of solitude in 2020. Each track then developed in its own way - the guitar, often left in its raw and unaltered form, is accompanied by the voice of his brother Simon, who brings imagery and storytelling, the clarinet and piano of Colin Ozanne adding balance, color, and harmony, and the percussion of Paul Hill creating depth... occasionally, a dulcimer, a Moog... all guiding the listener from the depths of the English countryside. The music is often cinematic, reminiscent of various film genres from the 50s to the 70s. And Also The Trees (AATT) formed during the post-punk era in rural Worcestershire, an environment that has been a constant source of inspiration for a band whose music has often explored dark undercurrents, but also the beauty of the British countryside. The band is known for its captivating concerts, its unique electric guitar style, reminiscent of a mandolin, its evocative lyrics, and its jazz rhythms, not to mention its fiercely preserved creative independence for over four decades. Founded by singer Simon Jones and his guitarist brother Justin, AATT has maintained a continuous presence on post-punk, alternative rock, and gothic scenes worldwide. They have released fifteen studio albums.
