While previous albums by Amen Dunes were all largely improvised first takes, recorded in just a few weeks at most, Love (2014) is the result of nearly a year and a half of uninterrupted work. Damon McMahon (a.k.a. Amen Dunes) chose to organize the main recording sessions in Montreal with Dave Bryant and Efrim Menuck from Godspeed You! Black Emperor. In addition to recording the sessions produced by McMahon, the members of Godspeed also played on several songs, along with Colin Stetson on saxophone and Elias Bender-Ronnenfelt from Iceage, who duets with McMahon on two tracks. The result is a collection of elemental songs about time, love, and memory, addressing both the listener and the author: pure, open, and beautiful. Pressed on blue and white marbled vinyl.
