'Salvation', released on September 1, 1997, was the fifth studio album by Alphaville and marked the beginning of a new phase in their musical development. It was the first Alphaville album without Ricky Echolette and the last with Bernhard Lloyd, who left the band in 2003. The singles "Wishful Thinking" and "Flame" were taken from the album. It was produced by Andy Richards and, unlike its predecessors, was recorded mainly at Eden Studios in London, with additional recordings taking place at Metropolis Studios and Stone Room Studios. Mixing also took place at these three studios as well as at Nucleus Recording Studio. 'Salvation (Deluxe Edition)' is released as a 3-CD deluxe edition and contains the original album (remastered) on CD 1, 16 singles and remixes on CD 2, and 17 demos and remixes on CD 3, as well as a digipack with a 16-page booklet.
