This edition includes 2 movements of Bach's Concerto for Harpsichord in D minor, the Agnus Dei from the Mass in B minor, a brand new 10-minute track ("Haunter of the Void"), a prequel to "Cthulhu" ("Beneath the Sea"), and 3 previously released ALKALOID tracks, here in extended versions ("Cthulhu", "A Fool's Desire", and "The Fungi From Yuggoth"). ALKALOID knows no limits. Composed of current and former members of Obscura, Triptykon, and Dark Fortress, this supergroup has upended the codes of progressive death metal by experimenting with complex polyrhythms, science fiction concepts, and devastatingly effective choruses. But in the summer of 2024, the quintet delivered an extraordinary performance that definitively proved their mastery. Recorded live in the Netherlands over 3 concerts (Bachfestival in Dordrecht, Paard van Troje in The Hague, and November Music in Den Bosch), ‘Bach Out of Bounds’ brings the famous composer into contact with the most extreme forms of underground music. Through these performances, ALKALOID presents three faithful interpretations of Bach classics, accompanied by a classical ensemble: celestial voices elevate the sacred aria "Agnus Dei," and even the unleashed guitar solo of "Allegro" achieves perfect harmony with delicately crafted strings. Of course, as true alchemists of metal, ALKALOID also unveils new creations by reinventing tracks from their own repertoire in the style of Bach. As if summoned by the sirens' song, "Beneath the Sea" reveals itself to be a thunderous precursor to the band's classic, "Cthulhu." As for the new track "Haunter of the Void," it takes the listener where no metal fan has ever gone before. With ‘Bach Out of Bounds’, ALKALOID delivers a classical and innovative performance, worthy of a true maestro.
