Alexandre Tharaud, a major pianist of our time, has chosen to record for his new album the last three Sonatas by Beethoven. A true event for his many fans as it is the first time he records this composer. These last Sonatas (Opus 109, 110, and 111) which crown the complete set of 32 Sonatas, were conceived together between 1820 and 1822, during a period of great creative effervescence for Beethoven. As a bonus to the album, an exceptional one-hour DVD, directed by Mariano Nante, features Alexandre Tharaud in a cinematographic work inspired by the universe of Tarkovsky. Filmed in abandoned castles illuminated by the director of photography Yorgos Arvanitis, the film evokes solitude and introspection and offers an inner journey through image and music.
