Description

For "Seldom," Alessandro Lanzoni chose to invite the American trumpeter Ralph Alessi - noted alongside Steve Coleman - with whom he had never played before. They met in the studio and the complicity was immediately evident (one can listen to the two improvisations in duo to be convinced). Not at all impressed by his older peer, so renowned and recognized as a master in the jazz world, A. Lanzoni asserts himself with a certain benevolent authority as a very expressive and willing pianist. Ralph Alessi fully embraces his approach, always showing great inventiveness and often being loquacious, with a great sense of nuances and a sensitive and unique approach to melodies. The rhythmic pair Matteo Bortone - Enrico Morello intelligently contributes to the balance of the whole: a quartet of great homogeneity at the service of music always referred to jazz but in a variation that never fails to surprise: this is not so common.
