Third album by the band led by singer-guitarist-songwriter Petter Ericson Stakee, born in Sweden and now based in Brooklyn. The record, produced by Claudius Mittendorfer (Johnny Marr, Kaiser Chiefs, Temples) and recorded in a church near Woodstock, not far from New York, delivers Stakee’s finest compositions since the band’s beginnings in 2005. Western State, Ghost of Santa Fe or Isolation once again demonstrate Stakee’s talent as a melodist, somewhere between Neil Young’s Crazy Horse, Kings Of Leon and Morning Jacket. A wonderful record....the seismic guitars and the high-pitched voice bring to mind Morning Jacket, Kings of Leon and Neil Young’s Crazy Horse...but Alberta Cross stands apart from these bands by relying less on the rootsiness of American music; instead, it embraces the very English, drifting side of Pink Floyd.
