Albert Castiglia doesn't mince words in Grits & Glory, his latest solo studio album on Gulf Coast Records, recorded in the legendary Abbey Road studios. This album marks a return to his roots for Albert, who reconnects with the young wide-eyed New Yorker with a guitar slung over his shoulder, whose world shifted from black and white to technicolor thanks to an 8-track cassette of Rubber Soul listened to on the way to a baseball game. This spark of curiosity drove him to seek out sounds and musicians - Jeff Beck, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page - whose influence has resonated in Castiglia's playing ever since. British blues has always been an integral part of his DNA... but it seemed out of reach. Until now. Once his team was assembled, his vision was clear. When the label gave the green light, there was only one possible place for the sessions: Abbey Road. Before recording, Albert immersed himself in British culture, stopping in Birmingham to walk the streets that shaped Black Sabbath and Tony Iommi, heroes who have forever marked his musical soul. With the passing of Ozzy Osbourne, this visit took on added significance and dimension.
