Description

September 23, 1965, Albury Judson Hall, New York. For his second studio recording for ESP (between Bells and Slug's Saloon) ALBERT AYLER assembled a septet, a kind of two-headed monster with two saxophones and two double basses. Among these young musicians was the veteran CALL COBS, Ayler's neighbor (they lived in the same building on St Nicholas Avenue), who had previously accompanied BILLIE HOLIDAY, LUCKY MILLINDER, and WARDELL GRAY. "My heart was elsewhere; I had just met Albert Ayler, and he was the only musician I still really wanted to play with" (GARY PEACOCK / January 1965). Vinyl edition (album cover visuals from the very first edition).
