South London outfit ALASKALASKA release their much anticipated debut album "The Dots" on Marathon Artists. Fusing their disparate off-kilter pop and jazz influences, their debut record gives off the feel of a band existing without borders of any kind. Fitting neither neatly into the post-punk explosion that defined their South London home a few years ago, nor the more recent emergence of a forward-thinking underground jazz scene, ALASKALASKA has swerved the area’s tropes. The lyrical power of the former and the languid, free-wheeling attitude of the latter can be felt throughout The Dots, but ALASKALASKA paints these influences in their own way, in the same way Bjork, Kate Bush, Arca, or Fever Ray may have done before them.
