The third studio album by Alan Parsons Project, "Pyramid," was originally released in May 1978. This concept album is centered around the pyramids of Giza. At the time of its conception, interest in the pyramids and the supposed power of pyramids was very much in vogue. One could find a pyramid on the back of a one-dollar bill, newspapers published articles about the alleged magical properties of pyramids, and, of course, the cover of "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd was a good example. As with other albums by Alan Parsons Project, the focus was on very high-quality studio sound production, and the album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. Several singers participated in the album, including John Miles, Colin Blunstone, Lenny Zakatek, David Paton, Jack Harris, and Dean Ford. Studio musicians such as guitarist Ian Bairnson and drummer Stuart Elliott also contributed, with arrangements by Andrew Powell. The album achieved worldwide success, selling over two million copies and receiving platinum and gold certifications in many countries, including the United States, Germany, and Canada. About Alan Parsons Project: Alan Parsons Project was a progressive rock group composed of sound engineer and producer Alan Parsons and composer, musician, and manager Eric Woolfson. Between 1976 and 1987, they released ten concept albums addressing themes such as science fiction, fantasy, literature, and sociology, and sold over 55 million albums worldwide.
