Tadaima

Description

Japan's best-kept musical secret, Akiko Yano, is one of the most innovative artists to emerge from the 70s Japanese music scene. Recorded in 1981 and co-produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tadaima is her fifth studio album. Sakamoto plays on the album alongside his YMO bandmates Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi, with whom she had just toured for two years. This is her first attempt to set aside the acoustic piano and venture into the synthetic sounds of the early 80s. Blending Japanese and English lyrics, Akiko Yano crafts perfectly calibrated pop songs. The result is a fascinating electro-pop album, revealing a unique universe. Commentary written by DJ and producer Joakim.
