The Sun Turns Black

Description

Parisian electronic composer and musician Désiré Niamké draws from the depths of his soul for his third album under the name Aho Ssan, defining a new sonic perspective driven more by texture, poetry, and intimacy than by rigid structure or concept. It is a shift in approach that Désiré had already been considering for some time, and which was already evident in "Ego Death," his acclaimed album released last year in collaboration with Polish cellist Resina. But it took a trip to Ghana for Désiré to understand that he needed to focus less on concrete forms and embrace the raw, transformative physicality of sound itself. "What struck me most was the intensity," he explains. "An organization of noise that is both overwhelming and beautiful." And it is this living, pulsating chaos that permeates "The Sun Turned Black," a suite of dense, impressionistic, and often overwhelmingly beautiful abstractions that take their time to drift and evolve, never falling into a predictable pattern. This is not an album that necessarily needs to answer specific questions or arrive at a particular destination. Instead, Désiré prioritizes the experience itself, savoring the journey.
